SOLVING has had many experiences with incorporating Lift tables into the Roll handling process. The unit pictured left straddles a lift in the floor, whereas the unit pictured right is a mobile lifting device all-in-one. The Roll Handler positions the Rolls or Reels ergonomically.

SOLVING Reel or Roll Handlers and Movers are primarily designed to use in the printing and paper industry where the transportation and handling of large and heavy reels and rolls is required. The omni-directional maneuverability of Air Bearing Roll Handlers provide exceptional handling of the rolls from storage to the machine areas.

OPERATION

The Operator manually positions the unloaded Air Bearing Roll Handler, using the built-in spring loaded wheels or casters, so that the carrier forks straddle the paper roll. The Operator simultaneously actuates the inflation of the Air Bearings and Lifting Bag, by the flip of a single switch, causing the transporter to lift the roll clear of the floor. The Air Bearing Roll Handler is now carrying the Roll on a thin film of air that is present between the Air Bearings and the floor surface. The Roll Handler is now “floating” almost “friction-free” for omni-directional positioning and movement.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION:

MCR Roll Handlers have two load-bearing forks which incorporate a pneumatic lifting system, making it possible to lift rolls of paper of various sizes directly from the floor and transport them. Movement in any direction is possible, including forward/reverse, side-to-side, and rotation about a central axis.

The four Air Bearing Elements are positioned under the forks. The pressure regulator and gauge for the Air Bearing Elements and Lifting bags are positioned within the control panel on the cross-beam of the Push/Pull handle. Once these regulators are pre-set, the operation of the Roll Mover can be energized by the on/off switch. Gross variations in weight between the rolls or reels can be balanced out by the regulators, if needed.
